Senior Fintech Data Platform Engineer
Build the Data Foundation Behind Intelligent Financial Products
A technology-focused fintech organization in Estonia is looking for an experienced Senior Fintech Data Platform Engineer to build the scalable data infrastructure supporting financial products, analytics, operational intelligence, and advanced decision-making.
This is a platform-focused engineering position for someone who understands that high-quality financial data requires more than pipelines. You will design systems that provide trusted, timely, governed, and highly available data to engineering, analytics, product, risk, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable data-platform architecture for financial and operational data.
- Build high-volume batch and real-time data pipelines supporting critical fintech applications.
- Develop reliable ingestion frameworks for transactions, payments, accounts, customers, and external financial data.
- Establish data models and platform standards that support analytics and downstream financial applications.
- Build streaming infrastructure capable of processing financial events with low latency.
- Implement data-quality controls covering validation, completeness, consistency, lineage, and reconciliation.
- Develop data services that enable analytics, machine learning, financial reporting, and product intelligence.
- Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to provide reliable datasets and reusable data capabilities.
- Optimize data infrastructure for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
- Establish observability across pipelines, storage systems, transformations, and data services.
- Implement appropriate security and governance controls for sensitive financial information.
- Improve platform automation through infrastructure-as-code and continuous deployment.
- Mentor data engineers and contribute to the organization’s long-term data-platform strategy.
What You Bring
- 6+ years of experience in data engineering, data-platform engineering, analytics engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong Python and SQL capabilities.
- Extensive experience building production-grade data pipelines and data platforms.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, data warehouses, data lakes, and distributed processing.
- Experience with Kafka, Spark, Airflow, dbt, or comparable technologies.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, governance, security, and access management.
- Experience working with financial, transactional, payment, or other high-integrity datasets.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD practices.
- Excellent analytical and technical problem-solving skills.
Technical Environment
The platform may include Python, SQL, Kafka, Spark, Airflow, dbt, PostgreSQL, Snowflake or equivalent warehouse technologies, cloud object storage, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and modern data-observability platforms.
Why This Opportunity
Data is becoming one of the most important foundations of modern financial technology. This position gives you the opportunity to build infrastructure that supports financial intelligence, product development, risk analysis, automation, reporting, and machine learning across a growing fintech ecosystem.
Ideal Candidate
You are a data engineer who cares deeply about what happens after a pipeline successfully runs. You think about data correctness, lineage, reliability, governance, scalability, security, and usability, and you enjoy creating platforms that other technical teams can confidently build upon.
