Build the Technology Behind Accurate, Automated Financial Reporting

An innovative fintech organization in Estonia is seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Engineer to develop technology supporting financial reporting, regulatory data, management information, and automated financial insights.

This role combines software engineering, data engineering, and financial systems. You will build reliable reporting infrastructure capable of transforming complex transactional information into accurate, traceable, timely, and decision-ready financial information.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable systems supporting financial and management reporting.
• Build data pipelines that transform transactional and operational information into trusted reporting datasets.
• Develop automated processes for financial reporting, reconciliations, data validation, and reporting schedules.
• Integrate reporting platforms with transaction systems, payment infrastructure, accounting platforms, and financial databases.
• Establish controls ensuring accuracy, consistency, completeness, and traceability of reported financial information.
• Develop data models supporting financial analysis and management reporting.
• Build automated validation and exception-detection mechanisms for reporting data.
• Collaborate with finance and accounting specialists to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions.
• Support regulatory reporting processes and evolving financial-data requirements.
• Optimize reporting pipelines for performance, reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Develop monitoring and alerting for critical reporting workflows.
• Investigate data discrepancies and lead technical root-cause analysis.
• Establish documentation and technical standards for financial reporting infrastructure.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, financial systems engineering, software engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience building production-grade data pipelines and reporting systems.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modelling, ETL/ELT, and analytical data platforms.
• Experience working with financial, transactional, accounting, or payment data.
• Understanding of reconciliation, financial controls, auditability, and data lineage.
• Experience with cloud platforms and automated deployment environments.
• Familiarity with technologies such as Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Spark, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong analytical capabilities and exceptional attention to data quality.
• Ability to work effectively with finance, accounting, engineering, and business teams.

The platform may include Python, SQL, PostgreSQL, cloud data warehouses, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Spark, data lakes, reporting platforms, automated reconciliation services, and data-observability tooling.
