The Role

We are looking for a highly capable Lead Payments Engineer to build and evolve sophisticated payment infrastructure supporting secure, scalable, and reliable financial transactions.

The successful candidate will take technical ownership of critical payment services, working across transaction processing, payment orchestration, APIs, reconciliation, integrations, and financial-data workflows.

What You Will Do

• Design and develop highly available payment-processing services.
• Build scalable APIs supporting payment initiation, transaction processing, account services, and settlement workflows.
• Integrate payment providers, banks, financial institutions, and external financial platforms.
• Develop reliable mechanisms for transaction validation, routing, retries, reconciliation, and exception handling.
• Improve system performance, resilience, observability, and operational reliability.
• Work with product, security, compliance, infrastructure, and operations teams.
• Participate in architectural decisions for distributed fintech platforms.
• Establish automated testing and deployment practices for mission-critical payment services.
• Investigate complex production incidents and implement long-term technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and technical strategy.

Technical Environment

Strong experience with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD, and distributed systems is highly desirable.

Experience with payment gateways, payment orchestration, ledger systems, banking APIs, SEPA-related payment infrastructure, reconciliation platforms, or other financial transaction systems would be particularly valuable.

Candidate Profile

• 6+ years of professional software-engineering experience.
• Strong background in payment technology or financial systems.
• Demonstrated experience building scalable production platforms.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and transactional integrity.
• Excellent knowledge of API design, databases, testing, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong technical leadership and problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable working in a regulated and security-sensitive environment.
