Engineer Intelligent Systems for Modern Financial Compliance

An innovative fintech organization in Estonia is seeking a Senior Financial Compliance Technology Engineer to develop technology supporting automated compliance operations, regulatory controls, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, and financial-risk processes.

This role is ideal for an engineer who can translate complex compliance requirements into reliable software, data pipelines, decisioning workflows, and automated controls. You will work closely with compliance, risk, data, security, and product teams to build technology that improves both operational efficiency and control effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop technology supporting automated financial-compliance workflows.
• Build services for customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, regulatory controls, and compliance operations.
• Develop rules-based and data-driven decisioning systems for financial-risk processes.
• Integrate compliance services with customer, payment, transaction, identity, and financial-data platforms.
• Build scalable workflows for alerts, investigations, case management, escalation, and resolution.
• Develop reliable data pipelines supporting compliance analytics and regulatory reporting.
• Establish strong audit trails and evidence-management capabilities across compliance processes.
• Improve automation while maintaining appropriate human-review and escalation mechanisms.
• Collaborate with compliance specialists to translate regulatory requirements into technical controls.
• Implement monitoring and quality controls to identify data inconsistencies and processing failures.
• Support production incidents involving compliance technology and lead technical root-cause analysis.
• Evaluate AI and advanced analytics applications that could improve compliance operations.
• Contribute to architecture reviews and long-term modernization of compliance technology.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, RegTech, fintech, banking technology, or financial systems.
• Strong backend engineering experience with Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or comparable technologies.
• Experience developing workflow, decisioning, data-processing, or transaction-monitoring systems.
• Good understanding of AML/KYC, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, or financial-risk processes.
• Strong knowledge of APIs, databases, event-driven systems, and distributed architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms, containers, CI/CD, and production observability.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, auditability, access controls, and sensitive-data protection.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with technical, compliance, risk, and business stakeholders.

Technical Environment

The environment may include Python, Java/Kotlin, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, workflow engines, rules engines, data warehouses, case-management systems, APIs, and compliance analytics infrastructure.
