A high-growth fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Payments Solutions Architect to design scalable technology solutions across payment processing, transaction orchestration, financial APIs, and banking integrations.

This is a senior architecture position for someone who can translate complex business and payment requirements into robust technical solutions while balancing scalability, security, reliability, regulatory considerations, and delivery speed.

Your Mandate

You will own solution architecture across major payments initiatives, partnering with engineering, product, security, compliance, and external financial-technology providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end architectures for payment processing and transaction-management platforms.
• Define technical solutions for payment initiation, authorisation, settlement, refunds, reversals, and reconciliation.
• Architect integrations with banks, payment institutions, card networks, payment gateways, and financial APIs.
• Establish scalable API and event-driven integration patterns.
• Evaluate architectural trade-offs involving performance, resilience, security, cost, and maintainability.
• Produce architecture diagrams, technical specifications, integration standards, and decision records.
• Work with engineering teams to translate architecture into production-ready implementations.
• Review technical designs and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
• Support technology due diligence for new payment providers and strategic integrations.
• Collaborate with security specialists to implement appropriate identity, encryption, access-control, and data-protection mechanisms.
• Identify opportunities to modernise legacy payment infrastructure.

What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience in solution architecture, software architecture, payments technology, fintech, or banking technology.
• Strong understanding of payment processing and financial transaction lifecycles.
• Expertise in APIs, distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with cloud platforms and modern integration technologies.
• Strong knowledge of system reliability, security, observability, and scalability.
• Ability to communicate complex architecture clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working within regulated financial environments is highly advantageous.
