A technology-focused fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Principal Open Banking Solutions Architect to lead the architecture of API-driven financial services, banking integrations, and open-finance capabilities.

This is a senior architecture position for a professional who can translate complex financial requirements into secure, scalable, interoperable technology platforms.

The Role

You will define technical solutions connecting fintech products with banks, payment institutions, financial-data providers, and external technology platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design scalable architectures for open banking and financial API services.
• Lead integration strategies across banks, payment providers, and third-party platforms.
• Define API standards, authentication models, data flows, and integration patterns.
• Design secure approaches to account information and payment initiation services.
• Establish resilient architectures for high-volume financial API traffic.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, security, compliance, and partnership teams.
• Evaluate external technology providers and integration capabilities.
• Lead architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
• Establish standards for observability, resilience, data protection, and operational readiness.
• Identify emerging open-finance technologies and assess their practical application.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to the organisation’s long-term architecture strategy.

Ideal Candidate

You should have significant experience in solution architecture, open banking, payments, APIs, banking technology, or fintech platforms.

Strong knowledge of REST APIs, OAuth/OIDC, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, microservices, data security, and distributed systems is expected.

Experience integrating with European banking or payment infrastructure would be particularly relevant.
