Protect the Infrastructure Powering Modern Digital Banking

A technology-driven fintech organization in Estonia is seeking a highly experienced Lead Digital Banking Security Engineer to strengthen the security architecture surrounding digital banking platforms, APIs, customer applications, cloud infrastructure, and financial transaction systems.

This is a senior cybersecurity engineering role focused on building security into the architecture and development lifecycle rather than relying solely on reactive controls. You will work closely with engineering, infrastructure, product, risk, and compliance teams to protect sensitive financial systems against increasingly sophisticated threats.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement security architectures for digital banking and fintech platforms.
• Protect customer-facing applications, internal services, financial APIs, and transaction-processing environments.
• Establish identity and access-management architectures using modern authentication and authorization standards.
• Develop security controls for service-to-service communication, privileged access, secrets management, and sensitive financial data.
• Conduct threat modelling and security architecture assessments for new financial products and technical initiatives.
• Integrate security controls into software development and CI/CD pipelines.
• Monitor emerging cyber threats and translate relevant intelligence into practical defensive measures.
• Work with engineering teams to identify and remediate application, infrastructure, and API vulnerabilities.
• Strengthen cloud-security controls across production and development environments.
• Support security incident investigation, containment, root-cause analysis, and remediation.
• Develop security engineering standards covering encryption, logging, access control, vulnerability management, and secure system design.
• Mentor security engineers and promote security-by-design practices across technical teams.

What You Bring

• 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, application security, cloud security, or security architecture.
• Strong experience securing financial services, digital banking, payment platforms, or other highly regulated technology environments.
• Deep understanding of identity and access management, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, API security, encryption, and secrets management.
• Experience securing cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure-as-code, and modern DevSecOps practices.
• Familiarity with application security testing, vulnerability management, threat modelling, and security monitoring.
• Understanding of secure software-development methodologies and common application-security risks.
• Strong analytical and incident-response capabilities.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior engineers and business stakeholders.

Technical Environment

The environment may include AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, SIEM platforms, IAM systems, API gateways, OAuth/OIDC, secrets-management solutions, vulnerability scanners, CI/CD security tooling, and cloud-native security controls.
