An advanced fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Fintech Data Governance & Risk Lead to establish robust governance across the data used for financial products, analytics, risk management, compliance, and operational decision-making.

This position is designed for a professional who understands that financial data requires accuracy, lineage, controlled access, regulatory discipline, and clear accountability.

The Role

You will develop the governance framework that ensures critical fintech data is properly defined, protected, monitored, and available to authorised teams and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish enterprise data-governance standards for financial information.
• Define ownership, stewardship, classification, and lifecycle requirements for critical datasets.
• Develop data-quality frameworks and controls for transactional and customer data.
• Establish data lineage across financial products and technology platforms.
• Work with engineering teams to improve data architecture and governance-by-design.
• Partner with compliance and risk functions on regulatory data requirements.
• Develop controls for sensitive financial and customer information.
• Identify data-related operational and regulatory risks.
• Establish monitoring frameworks for data quality, completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Support development of data catalogues, business glossaries, and governance documentation.
• Coordinate remediation programmes for significant data-quality issues.
• Advise product and technology leadership on data risks associated with new financial services.

What You Bring

You should have experience in data governance, financial data management, risk, compliance technology, banking, fintech, or enterprise data architecture.

Strong knowledge of data lineage, metadata management, data quality, privacy controls, SQL, cloud data platforms, data warehouses, and governance frameworks is desirable.

Experience working with customer, payment, transaction, or regulatory data would be particularly relevant.
