A growing financial technology company in Estonia is looking for a Fintech Data Governance Lead to establish a mature framework for managing the quality, security, ownership, and responsible use of critical financial data.

The position combines governance, technology, analytics, risk, and business operations. You will work across the organisation to ensure that data is clearly defined, appropriately controlled, reliable, accessible, and fit for strategic and operational use.

The Role

You will develop the organisation’s data-governance operating model and establish practical standards that support product development, analytics, financial reporting, risk management, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the enterprise data-governance framework.
• Define data ownership, stewardship, classification, and accountability structures.
• Establish standards for data quality, lineage, metadata, and lifecycle management.
• Work with engineering teams to improve data architecture and governance controls.
• Develop frameworks for identifying and resolving data-quality issues.
• Partner with security and compliance teams on data-protection requirements.
• Establish data-access and usage standards for sensitive financial information.
• Support product and analytics teams in establishing consistent data definitions.
• Develop governance processes for new data sources, systems, and integrations.
• Monitor data-quality indicators and provide reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Support audits, regulatory reviews, and internal control assessments involving data.
• Promote responsible and efficient use of data across the organisation.
• Lead data-governance initiatives involving multiple business and technology teams.

Candidate Profile

• 6+ years of experience in data governance, data management, financial services, fintech, analytics, or technology.
• Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, lineage, classification, and access management.
• Experience working with enterprise data platforms and modern cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of data-protection and information-security principles.
• Experience establishing governance frameworks across multidisciplinary organisations.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to translate technical data concepts into practical business processes.

Data Environment

Cloud data platforms, data warehouses and lakes, BI systems, metadata platforms, data-quality tooling, APIs, financial databases, analytics environments, and automated governance controls.
