Description

An international financial technology operation in Estonia is looking for a skilled Execution Developer to strengthen its electronic trading and market-connectivity capabilities. This position focuses on building reliable execution infrastructure, integrating external venues, and improving how orders are routed and managed across financial markets.

The role is particularly suited to a developer who enjoys working close to live markets and understands that execution technology requires a combination of software engineering discipline, market knowledge, performance optimisation, and operational resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electronic order-execution systems and trading applications.
  • Build integrations with exchanges, brokers, liquidity providers, and other market venues.
  • Implement and maintain order-management and execution workflows.
  • Work with FIX and other financial-market communication protocols where applicable.
  • Process and normalise real-time market-data feeds for use by execution systems.
  • Develop intelligent order-routing and execution logic based on liquidity and market conditions.
  • Analyse execution quality, latency, slippage, fill rates, and transaction costs.
  • Identify technical bottlenecks affecting trading performance and implement improvements.
  • Support pre-trade and post-trade processing across electronic execution workflows.
  • Develop automated testing frameworks for execution and connectivity components.
  • Monitor production systems and investigate connectivity, pricing, and order-processing issues.
  • Collaborate with quantitative developers and traders on execution-related projects.
  • Maintain technical documentation covering integrations, protocols, system behaviour, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in system upgrades, deployments, and reliability improvements.

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience developing trading, brokerage, exchange, or other financial-market technology.
  • Strong software-development skills in C++, Python, Java, or comparable languages.
  • Practical understanding of electronic trading and order-execution workflows.
  • Experience with APIs, FIX, WebSocket, TCP/IP, or other market-connectivity technologies.
  • Knowledge of order types, liquidity, spreads, slippage, and execution quality.
  • Familiarity with real-time systems and high-throughput data processing.
  • Understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and performance optimisation.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments and modern software-engineering practices.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and financial-market teams.
  • Relevant technical or quantitative education is advantageous.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is technically strong, market-aware, and highly detail-oriented. You should be comfortable investigating issues at both the application and infrastructure level and understand how small technical improvements can materially affect execution performance.

You will be expected to think beyond simply making systems work. Reliability, latency, scalability, observability, and execution quality should all form part of your approach to engineering.

Opportunity

This position offers substantial exposure to electronic trading infrastructure, market connectivity, execution optimisation, and financial technology. It is an excellent opportunity for a developer seeking to build specialist expertise in the intersection of software engineering and capital markets.
