The successful candidate will work closely with quantitative researchers, traders, quantitative developers, and infrastructure engineers to transform trading strategies into reliable production systems. The role involves developing execution algorithms, improving system performance, analysing execution quality, and building technology capable of operating efficiently under demanding market conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop algorithmic execution strategies for electronic financial markets.
- Translate quantitative research and trading requirements into robust production software.
- Develop components for order routing, execution management, market-data processing, and trading automation.
- Optimise execution logic to improve fill quality, latency, transaction costs, and market impact.
- Integrate trading algorithms with exchanges, brokers, liquidity providers, and electronic trading venues.
- Develop and maintain low-latency systems capable of processing high volumes of market data.
- Analyse execution performance using transaction-cost analysis and other quantitative techniques.
- Investigate production issues, execution anomalies, and unexpected trading behaviour.
- Implement monitoring, logging, testing, and operational controls for automated trading systems.
- Collaborate with quantitative researchers to test and deploy new execution methodologies.
- Participate in code reviews, system architecture discussions, and performance optimisation initiatives.
- Maintain clear technical documentation for algorithms and execution infrastructure.
- Contribute to improvements in development, testing, deployment, and monitoring processes.
Candidate Profile
- Professional experience in algorithmic trading development, electronic execution, trading technology, or a closely related field.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python; experience with Java or Rust is advantageous.
- Understanding of financial markets, order types, market microstructure, and execution mechanics.
- Experience working with real-time market data and electronic trading systems.
- Knowledge of APIs, FIX protocol, exchange connectivity, or broker connectivity is highly valuable.
- Strong understanding of software performance, concurrency, networking, and system reliability.
- Experience with testing and deployment of production trading systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with quantitative, trading, and technology professionals.
- Relevant degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, physics, or another technical discipline.
Why This Opportunity
This role provides the opportunity to work directly on electronic trading and execution infrastructure within Estonia’s technology-focused financial ecosystem. The successful candidate will have meaningful ownership of systems that connect trading strategies with live financial markets.
