Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Embedded-Finance Engineer to design, build, and maintain integrations between our platform, banking partners, and third-party financial service providers. You will help transform complex financial infrastructure into reliable services that can be incorporated into customer-facing applications and business workflows.

Working closely with backend engineers, product managers, banking partners, and compliance specialists, you will develop secure financial APIs and integration services that support dependable data exchange, payment initiation, and account-related functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded-finance services connecting business applications with banking and financial infrastructure.
• Build and maintain integrations with banking APIs, account information providers, and payment service providers.
• Develop RESTful APIs and backend services for account access, transaction retrieval, payment initiation, and financial data exchange.
• Implement authentication and authorisation flows using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and other appropriate security standards.
• Work with open banking interfaces and PSD2-related integration requirements where applicable.
• Implement robust error handling, request validation, idempotency controls, and retry mechanisms.
• Collaborate with banking partners to resolve API compatibility issues and support integration testing.
• Apply encryption, access controls, audit logging, and secure coding practices to protect financial information.
• Monitor integration performance, investigate production incidents, and improve system reliability.
• Maintain API documentation, technical specifications, and integration runbooks.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and help establish reusable integration patterns.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Professional experience in backend engineering, financial technology, API development, or systems integration.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Kotlin, Python, TypeScript, C#, or Go.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication, and asynchronous communication.
• Experience integrating third-party services or working with banking and financial APIs.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, distributed systems, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Understanding of API security, sensitive-data protection, and access management.
• Knowledge of open banking, SEPA payments, PSD2, or relevant European financial services standards is an advantage.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Professional working proficiency in English; Estonian language skills are an advantage.
