Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Currency Strategist to analyse foreign exchange markets, interpret macroeconomic developments, and develop actionable currency outlooks for a financial services environment. The successful candidate will combine economic research, quantitative analysis, and market intelligence to explain currency movements and identify potential opportunities and risks across major and emerging currency pairs.

This role requires a strong understanding of monetary policy, international trade, inflation dynamics, interest-rate differentials, and global capital flows. The strategist will translate complex economic information into clear market assessments that support trading decisions, client discussions, and financial risk management.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct fundamental research on major currency pairs, including EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, and other relevant FX markets.

• Monitor central bank decisions, inflation reports, employment data, GDP releases, and geopolitical developments that influence exchange rates.

• Develop short-term and medium-term currency forecasts using macroeconomic indicators, market pricing, and historical trends.

• Prepare daily market briefings, weekly FX outlooks, and thematic research reports for internal stakeholders.

• Analyse interest-rate expectations, bond yields, forward curves, and cross-currency relationships to identify significant market drivers.

• Evaluate technical market structures and price action to complement fundamental currency analysis.

• Assess foreign exchange volatility, event-driven risks, and potential changes in market sentiment.

• Present research findings in clear, evidence-based formats for traders, analysts, and institutional clients.

• Maintain economic calendars, currency-monitoring dashboards, and structured research databases.

• Review forecast accuracy and refine analytical methodologies as market conditions evolve.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate has professional experience in FX research, macroeconomic analysis, investment research, or financial markets strategy. They should be comfortable interpreting economic data, evaluating competing market narratives, and communicating conclusions without overstating the certainty of forecasts.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related discipline.

• Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in foreign exchange, macroeconomic research, or financial market analysis.

• Strong understanding of central bank policy, currency valuation, international monetary systems, and financial market relationships.

• Experience producing economic commentary, market forecasts, or investment research.

• Proficiency in Excel and financial data platforms; familiarity with Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or equivalent tools is advantageous.

• Knowledge of Python, R, or other analytical tools is beneficial.

• Excellent written communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under tight research deadlines.
