Role Summary

The Technical Writer will create documentation that helps merchants, partners, and software developers integrate payment APIs into their applications. The role combines technical writing with practical understanding of payment workflows, helping users configure integrations, handle transaction responses, implement webhooks, and troubleshoot common issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce payment API references, integration manuals, and developer onboarding guides.

• Document payment authorisation, capture, refunds, transaction status checks, and settlement-related API workflows where applicable.

• Write clear instructions for API authentication, request signing, error handling, and secure credential management.

• Develop code samples and request-response examples in relevant programming languages.

• Document webhook events, notification handling, retry behaviour, and integration testing procedures.

• Work with payment engineers and product specialists to verify technical accuracy.

• Maintain sandbox setup instructions and guidance for testing payment scenarios.

• Explain API limitations, integration prerequisites, supported configurations, and common implementation errors.

• Update documentation when payment features, API versions, or integration processes change.

• Review support tickets and partner feedback to identify recurring documentation problems.

• Ensure published materials follow internal security and information-handling guidelines.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience writing technical documentation for APIs, software integrations, or developer tools.

• Understanding of REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, webhooks, and API authentication.

• Familiarity with payment gateways, merchant integrations, or transaction-processing workflows is an advantage.

• Ability to work with API testing tools such as Postman and interpret technical specifications.

• Experience with Git-based workflows, Markdown, and documentation publishing systems.

• Strong ability to explain technical procedures in concise, user-focused language.

• Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with engineers and product stakeholders.

• Professional proficiency in English; experience in fintech or payment technology is beneficial.
