Role Summary

The Payment Integration Engineer will implement and maintain integrations between internal applications and external payment providers. The successful candidate will ensure that payment interfaces are reliable, well-documented, and capable of handling different transaction statuses, provider requirements, and operational exceptions.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate payment gateways, acquiring platforms, banking APIs, and third-party payment services.
• Develop and maintain API clients, webhooks, authentication flows, and provider-specific adapters.
• Implement validation, error handling, retry logic, and idempotency for payment requests.
• Map transaction statuses and payment events between internal systems and external providers.
• Troubleshoot integration failures, callback inconsistencies, and transaction discrepancies.
• Create integration documentation, technical specifications, and testing procedures.
• Support sandbox testing, certification activities, and production releases with payment partners.
• Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and operations teams to resolve integration issues.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience building API integrations or backend applications in a production environment.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, C#, or another suitable programming language.
• Practical knowledge of REST APIs, JSON, webhooks, OAuth 2.0, and API authentication.
• Understanding of payment gateway workflows, transaction lifecycles, and payment failure scenarios.
• Experience using API testing tools, version control, automated tests, and debugging utilities.
• Strong documentation skills and the ability to work with external technical teams.
• Professional proficiency in English; payments industry experience is an advantage.
