Senior Payments Strategy Lead

A leading fintech environment in Estonia is seeking an accomplished Senior Payments Strategy Lead to shape the next generation of digital payment products across European markets. This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a professional who understands payment infrastructure, financial technology, regulatory requirements, and the commercial dynamics of modern payment ecosystems.

The successful candidate will work across product, technology, operations, compliance, and commercial teams to identify opportunities, improve payment capabilities, and establish scalable strategies for domestic and cross-border transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute long-term payments strategies aligned with business and market objectives.
• Evaluate payment rails, acquiring models, issuing solutions, wallets, and alternative payment methods.
• Identify opportunities to improve authorization rates, transaction performance, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
• Work with engineering and product teams to translate strategic priorities into executable roadmaps.
• Monitor European payments trends, emerging technologies, competitor developments, and regulatory changes.
• Establish performance frameworks covering transaction success, cost efficiency, reliability, and customer adoption.
• Support partnerships with banks, payment service providers, technology vendors, and other ecosystem participants.
• Present strategic recommendations and business cases to senior leadership.

Candidate Profile

• 7+ years of experience in payments, fintech, banking, financial infrastructure, or a closely related field.
• Strong understanding of European payment ecosystems and digital financial products.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing commercial or product strategies.
• Excellent analytical, stakeholder-management, and communication skills.
• Ability to operate comfortably between strategic planning and detailed execution.
• Experience working in technology-led financial services environments.
