Architect the Core Technology Behind Scalable Financial Services

A high-growth fintech organization in Estonia is seeking an accomplished Senior Financial Infrastructure Architect to define and evolve the technical foundations supporting critical financial products, transaction services, and high-volume digital operations.

This is a senior architecture role for a technology professional who can operate across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, financial platforms, integration architecture, and operational resilience. You will shape foundational technology decisions that determine how financial services are built, connected, secured, and scaled.

Key Responsibilities

• Define architecture for highly available infrastructure supporting critical fintech applications.
• Design scalable foundations for transaction processing, financial APIs, data services, and internal platforms.
• Establish architectural standards for distributed systems, service communication, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Develop strategies for high availability, disaster recovery, fault tolerance, and business continuity.
• Design integration architectures connecting internal services with banks, payment providers, financial institutions, and technology partners.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to establish reliable patterns for microservices, event-driven systems, and asynchronous processing.
• Review technical designs and identify architectural risks before they reach production.
• Establish infrastructure standards covering security, observability, scalability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Work with cybersecurity teams to incorporate identity, network security, encryption, and access controls into platform architecture.
• Lead modernization initiatives involving legacy financial infrastructure and platform migration.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and determine their suitability for production financial environments.
• Mentor senior engineers and architects while contributing to the organization’s long-term technology strategy.

What You Bring

• 8+ years of experience in software architecture, cloud architecture, platform engineering, or financial technology.
• Demonstrated experience designing large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Deep understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, APIs, databases, networking, and container platforms.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of reliability engineering, observability, disaster recovery, and production resilience.
• Experience working with financial systems, payments, banking technology, or other mission-critical platforms.
• Strong understanding of security architecture and sensitive-data protection.
• Excellent technical leadership, communication, and decision-making capabilities.

Technical Environment

The environment may include Kubernetes, Terraform, AWS/Azure, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Docker, API gateways, cloud networking, service meshes, distributed tracing, CI/CD platforms, and infrastructure-observability systems.
