Role Summary

The Open Banking Solutions Architect will lead the technical design and architectural development of open banking solutions, ensuring reliable connectivity between financial institutions, fintech applications, and external service providers.

The role requires a strong understanding of financial APIs, banking infrastructure, data security, and system integration. The successful candidate will translate business and regulatory requirements into scalable technical architectures while supporting engineering teams throughout implementation and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable architectural solutions for open banking platforms and financial connectivity services.

• Develop technical integration strategies connecting banking systems, fintech applications, and authorised third-party providers.

• Define API architecture standards, integration frameworks, and communication protocols for financial data exchange.

• Ensure banking connectivity solutions follow relevant security, authentication, and data protection requirements.

• Collaborate with software engineers to implement reliable financial API integrations and interconnected services.

• Evaluate existing system architectures and recommend improvements to scalability, performance, and resilience.

• Support the development of secure account information and payment initiation capabilities.

• Establish technical standards for API documentation, system interoperability, and integration testing.

• Work with product managers and compliance specialists to translate business and regulatory requirements into technical specifications.

• Review architectural designs and provide technical guidance throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Identify integration risks and recommend appropriate solutions for complex technical challenges.

• Participate in technology evaluations and assess emerging open banking infrastructure solutions.

• Support production readiness assessments and investigate architectural issues affecting platform performance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Substantial experience in software architecture, financial technology engineering, or banking systems integration.

• Strong understanding of open banking concepts, financial APIs, and banking connectivity infrastructure.

• Practical experience with REST APIs, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and secure authentication frameworks.

• Knowledge of microservices architecture, distributed systems, and cloud-based application environments.

• Understanding of PSD2 and relevant European open banking requirements.

• Familiarity with financial data security, encryption, and access management practices.

• Experience working with engineering teams on complex technology implementations.

• Strong architectural documentation and technical communication skills.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

• Professional proficiency in English.
