The Opportunity
We are looking for an Open Banking Integration Specialist to support the connectivity between fintech applications, financial institutions, and regulated payment service providers. This role is designed for a technically minded professional who understands API-based financial services and can help ensure that banking integrations are reliable, secure, and consistent across different environments.
As digital financial products increasingly depend on connected banking services, the successful candidate will help maintain integrations that enable secure account information access, payment initiation, transaction retrieval, and the exchange of financial data between authorized systems.
Core Responsibilities
- Configure, test, monitor, and maintain integrations between fintech platforms and external banking or payment service APIs.
- Work with REST APIs, JSON payloads, authentication mechanisms, webhooks, and structured data exchange processes.
- Investigate integration failures, authorization errors, inconsistent responses, rate limits, and connectivity issues.
- Support the implementation and testing of open banking features, including account information services and payment initiation workflows.
- Validate API responses and ensure that financial data is mapped correctly between internal systems and external providers.
- Assist with sandbox testing, certification procedures, integration documentation, and controlled production releases.
- Collaborate with software engineers, quality assurance specialists, product teams, and external integration partners to resolve technical issues.
- Monitor integration performance and contribute to improvements in availability, error handling, logging, and incident resolution.
- Follow established security practices for credentials, tokens, sensitive financial data, and access permissions.
- Maintain clear technical documentation covering integration configurations, known limitations, troubleshooting procedures, and operational dependencies.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Practical experience working with APIs, technical integrations, or application support in a software or financial technology environment.
- Understanding of HTTP methods, REST architecture, JSON, authentication flows, and API testing tools such as Postman.
- Familiarity with OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, or certificate-based authentication is an advantage.
- Basic scripting or programming knowledge in Python, JavaScript, Java, or a comparable language.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to interpret technical logs, identify integration failures, and document solutions.
- Awareness of data protection, secure credential management, and the handling of sensitive financial information.
- Knowledge of European open banking standards and PSD2-related integration concepts is desirable.
Professional Environment
This opportunity offers practical involvement in the technical foundations of connected financial services. The successful applicant will work with modern integration tools, external financial service providers, and multidisciplinary technology teams while developing expertise in banking connectivity and payment infrastructure.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a structured engineering environment where system reliability, documentation quality, security, and clear communication are essential.
Ideal Candidate: A technically curious integration professional who can bridge the gap between banking APIs and fintech applications, diagnose problems systematically, and help deliver dependable financial connectivity.
