A high-growth fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Lead Financial Systems Engineer to develop and evolve the core technology responsible for reliable financial processing.

This is a senior engineering opportunity for someone comfortable working on systems where correctness, availability, performance, and security are critical. You will contribute to transaction processing, financial ledgers, reconciliation services, and the infrastructure supporting digital financial products.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly reliable financial services and transaction-processing components.
• Build scalable backend services supporting accounts, payments, balances, and financial operations.
• Develop robust ledger and reconciliation mechanisms with strong data-integrity guarantees.
• Improve system performance, availability, observability, and fault tolerance.
• Design APIs and event-driven services for internal and external financial integrations.
• Establish automated testing and engineering practices appropriate for high-integrity financial systems.
• Investigate complex production issues and lead permanent technical improvements.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, finance, and operations teams.
• Review technical designs and mentor engineers on architecture and engineering standards.
• Contribute to long-term platform modernisation and scalability initiatives.

Candidate Profile

• 7+ years of professional software-engineering experience.
• Strong backend development experience with languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or similar.
• Excellent understanding of distributed systems, databases, APIs, and asynchronous processing.
• Experience building systems where transaction integrity and reliability are essential.
• Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, and automated testing.
• Ability to communicate complex engineering decisions clearly.

Technical Environment

Cloud-native infrastructure, microservices, relational and distributed databases, event streaming, REST APIs, containerisation, CI/CD, observability, and automated security controls.
