Description

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Institutional FX Sales Trader to support foreign exchange business with institutional clients, financial intermediaries, corporate treasury teams, and other eligible market participants. The role combines institutional relationship management, market awareness, transaction coordination, and commercial development.

The successful applicant will understand the relationship between client requirements, currency pricing, market liquidity, and execution quality. They will work closely with dealing, treasury, operations, and compliance teams to facilitate efficient transactions while maintaining accurate documentation and appropriate controls.

This opportunity is suited to a professional who can manage sophisticated client conversations, identify opportunities for deeper institutional engagement, and contribute to sustainable revenue growth in a regulated financial-services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and manage relationships with institutional clients, corporate treasury departments, financial intermediaries, and professional counterparties.

  • Identify client requirements involving spot FX, forward contracts, and other permitted currency products, subject to the organisation’s authorised product offering.

  • Develop account plans and commercial strategies that support client acquisition, retention, and long-term revenue growth.

  • Discuss currency-market conditions, execution considerations, and pricing structures with clients within approved product and communication parameters.

  • Coordinate with the trading desk to facilitate competitive quotes and efficient execution of client transactions.

  • Monitor client activity, transaction patterns, market developments, and business opportunities to identify areas for service improvement.

  • Work with internal teams to support client onboarding, know-your-customer checks, credit approvals where applicable, and account documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions, commercial terms, transaction requests, and follow-up activities.

  • Prepare account-performance reviews, pipeline forecasts, revenue reports, and market-related business updates.

  • Escalate unusual trading activity, client complaints, pricing discrepancies, or potential conduct and compliance concerns through established procedures.

  • Support improvements in client coverage, pricing workflows, service delivery, and institutional sales processes.

  • Maintain professional standards consistent with applicable Estonian and EU financial-services regulations and internal risk policies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Substantial experience in institutional FX sales, financial markets, treasury sales, brokerage services, or a comparable client-facing financial role.

  • Strong understanding of spot and forward FX markets, currency pricing, liquidity, spreads, and execution workflows.

  • Experience managing institutional accounts or commercially significant corporate relationships.

  • Ability to interpret market information and explain its practical implications to clients.

  • Understanding of counterparty risk, transaction documentation, customer due diligence, and financial-services compliance.

  • Proficiency in CRM systems, reporting tools, and financial-market data platforms.

  • Excellent negotiation, presentation, relationship-management, and commercial-analysis skills.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple client relationships in a time-sensitive environment.

  • Fluency in English; additional European languages are an advantage.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate combines strong institutional sales capability with practical FX market knowledge. They can build credibility with experienced financial-market participants, understand the commercial requirements behind currency transactions, and coordinate effectively with trading and control functions.

They should be commercially ambitious but measured in their approach, prioritising transparent communication, sustainable client relationships, and disciplined adherence to approved trading and sales procedures.

What We Offer

  • A professional role with exposure to institutional foreign exchange markets.

  • Opportunities to develop relationships with corporate and financial-sector clients.

  • Collaboration with experienced trading, treasury, compliance, and operations teams.

  • A working environment focused on commercial performance, execution quality, and long-term client value.

  • Opportunities for continued development in institutional FX coverage and financial-market services.

Application focus: Applicants should outline their institutional FX sales experience, client segments served, knowledge of currency products, and achievements in client acquisition, retention, or revenue development.
