An advanced fintech organisation in Estonia is looking for a Head of Financial Platform Risk Engineering to lead the technology capabilities responsible for identifying, controlling, and responding to financial and operational risks.

This leadership position sits at the intersection of risk engineering, fraud technology, payments, data science, cybersecurity, and financial infrastructure.

The Role

You will lead the development of technology systems that evaluate transactions, accounts, behaviours, and operational signals to support timely and consistent risk decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the technology strategy for financial-platform risk controls.
• Lead engineering initiatives covering transaction risk, fraud detection, account protection, and behavioural monitoring.
• Develop real-time and near-real-time risk decisioning capabilities.
• Work with data scientists to deploy analytical and machine-learning models into production environments.
• Establish risk-scoring architectures and decision engines.
• Integrate internal and external risk signals into centralised risk platforms.
• Improve automated detection of suspicious transaction and account behaviour.
• Establish monitoring for model performance, false positives, data quality, and system reliability.
• Collaborate with compliance, fraud operations, cybersecurity, product, and engineering teams.
• Develop APIs and services connecting risk systems with payment and financial platforms.
• Establish governance and documentation for critical risk technology.
• Lead and mentor engineers specialising in financial risk systems.

Ideal Candidate

You should have strong experience in risk technology, fraud engineering, fintech, payments, financial crime technology, data engineering, or platform engineering.

Strong technical knowledge of Python, Java/Go, SQL, streaming technologies, cloud platforms, APIs, machine-learning deployment, rules engines, and distributed systems would be highly relevant.

Experience building real-time transaction-monitoring or risk-decisioning systems is an advantage.
