An established technology-driven financial environment in Estonia is seeking a Fintech Security Architect to define and strengthen the security architecture supporting digital financial products, APIs, cloud infrastructure, payment services, and sensitive customer data.

This is a senior technical role for an architect who can combine enterprise security principles with practical engineering delivery. You will work across technology, infrastructure, product, compliance, and risk teams to ensure security is designed into platforms from the beginning rather than added after deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Define security architecture principles and reference architectures for fintech platforms.
• Conduct security architecture reviews for applications, APIs, cloud services, and third-party integrations.
• Design identity, authentication, authorisation, encryption, secrets-management, and access-control strategies.
• Work with engineering teams to embed secure development practices throughout the software lifecycle.
• Assess technology risks associated with cloud infrastructure, payment systems, APIs, and external service providers.
• Establish security requirements for new products and major technology initiatives.
• Support threat modelling, vulnerability management, penetration-testing programmes, and security assessments.
• Collaborate with compliance and risk teams on technology-control requirements.
• Develop security standards, architectural documentation, and technical guidelines.
• Monitor emerging threats and recommend appropriate improvements to the organisation’s security posture.

Required Experience

• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security architecture, software engineering, or technology risk.
• Strong understanding of cloud security and distributed-system architecture.
• Experience with IAM, encryption, network security, API security, and application-security principles.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
• Experience within fintech, banking, payments, or another highly regulated technology environment is highly valuable.
• Strong understanding of secure software development practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex security matters to senior stakeholders and engineering teams.
