The Role

We are seeking an accomplished Fintech Risk & Fraud Director to lead the strategic development of enterprise risk and financial-crime prevention capabilities across a technology-driven financial-services environment.

You will establish a sophisticated risk framework covering fraud prevention, transaction monitoring, operational risk, financial exposure, customer risk, and technology-enabled controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute an enterprise-wide fintech risk and fraud strategy.
• Lead fraud-prevention programmes across payments, accounts, transactions, and digital customer journeys.
• Establish risk models, monitoring frameworks, controls, and escalation mechanisms.
• Analyse transaction behaviour and emerging fraud patterns to identify new threats.
• Work with data science and engineering teams to develop automated risk-detection capabilities.
• Oversee fraud investigations, incident management, and root-cause analysis.
• Establish risk appetite, key risk indicators, control frameworks, and management reporting.
• Partner with compliance, cybersecurity, product, operations, and legal teams.
• Evaluate new products and technologies from a risk perspective before launch.
• Present risk trends, exposure levels, fraud performance, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead continuous improvements in automated fraud detection and risk analytics.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of experience across financial risk, fraud management, fintech, banking, payments, or financial crime.
• Demonstrated leadership experience within a complex financial-services environment.
• Strong understanding of transaction risk, fraud typologies, digital payments, and technology-enabled controls.
• Experience developing risk frameworks, fraud strategies, and analytical monitoring programmes.
• Strong understanding of data-driven risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Experience working with regulated financial institutions or fintech businesses.
• Strong ability to translate complex risk intelligence into practical business decisions.
