An innovative fintech environment in Estonia is looking for a technically strong Digital Payments Solutions Engineer to design and implement integrations connecting payment platforms, financial institutions, merchant systems, and modern digital applications.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex integration problems and working directly at the intersection of software engineering and financial infrastructure.

What You Will Build

You will design reliable technical solutions for payment flows, APIs, integrations, transaction services, and supporting systems. Your work will contribute to the development of secure and scalable financial technology used across multiple digital channels.

Core Responsibilities

• Design and implement payment-related integrations and technical solutions.
• Develop and maintain APIs connecting internal and external financial systems.
• Work with engineering teams to implement transaction-processing capabilities.
• Analyse complex integration requirements and convert them into technical designs.
• Integrate banking, payment-service, identity, and financial technology platforms.
• Investigate transaction failures, integration issues, and production incidents.
• Develop automated tests for payment and financial workflows.
• Improve system observability, logging, monitoring, and operational diagnostics.
• Collaborate with security teams to implement appropriate application and API controls.
• Participate in architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
• Contribute to CI/CD, deployment automation, and engineering standards.
• Produce clear technical documentation for integrations and platform components.
• Work closely with product managers and business stakeholders to understand functional requirements.
• Participate in continuous improvement of payment infrastructure and engineering processes.

Technical Environment

Experience with modern backend development, REST APIs, event-driven systems, databases, cloud infrastructure, message queues, containers, and automated deployment environments is highly relevant.

Knowledge of payment processing, transaction lifecycles, reconciliation, digital banking, or financial APIs will be particularly valuable.

Candidate Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong backend or integration engineering background.
• Experience building production APIs and distributed services.
• Solid understanding of databases, cloud infrastructure, and system integration.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience working with secure and highly available systems.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Experience within fintech or payments is advantageous but not mandatory where technical experience is strong.
