A technology-led financial organisation is seeking an accomplished Financial Platform Engineer to build and evolve the core technology infrastructure behind modern fintech services. This is a senior engineering opportunity for a developer who enjoys working on complex systems where scalability, reliability, security, and data integrity are fundamental.

You will contribute to platforms supporting financial accounts, transaction processing, payment orchestration, customer services, internal operations, and third-party financial integrations.

The Role

You will work closely with backend engineers, architects, product managers, DevOps specialists, security professionals, and financial-operations teams to develop highly resilient services and infrastructure.

Your work will span new platform capabilities as well as the modernisation of existing systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable services supporting financial products.
• Build robust APIs and backend components for transaction and account-based workflows.
• Develop reliable transaction-processing and financial-data services.
• Design systems capable of handling increasing transaction volumes without compromising performance.
• Integrate internal services with banks, payment providers, identity platforms, and external financial infrastructure.
• Implement appropriate validation, error handling, reconciliation, and audit mechanisms.
• Participate in architecture reviews and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Improve system availability, performance, observability, and resilience.
• Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Investigate production incidents and implement sustainable technical solutions.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on deployment, infrastructure, monitoring, and automation.
• Participate in technical debt reduction and platform-modernisation initiatives.
• Maintain high standards for documentation, code quality, security, and maintainability.

Technical Environment

Experience with technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, C#, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, REST APIs, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms is valuable.

Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architecture, microservices, financial ledgers, payment processing, reconciliation, or high-volume transaction platforms would be particularly relevant.

Candidate Profile

• Strong professional software-engineering background.
