Role Summary

The Blockchain Protocol Engineer will design, implement, and maintain blockchain protocol components and distributed infrastructure. The role involves improving network performance, transaction processing, consensus-related functionality, and system reliability while collaborating with engineers to deliver secure and maintainable blockchain solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain blockchain protocol components and distributed system services.
• Implement and optimise transaction processing, block validation, and network communication mechanisms.
• Analyse protocol performance, scalability limitations, and resource utilisation.
• Contribute to consensus mechanisms, peer-to-peer networking, and state management where applicable.
• Develop automated tests for protocol functionality, reliability, and performance.
• Investigate protocol defects, network inconsistencies, and complex engineering issues.
• Review technical proposals and contribute to protocol design documentation.
• Collaborate with security specialists to identify vulnerabilities and strengthen system resilience.
• Evaluate emerging blockchain technologies and recommend relevant engineering improvements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience in systems programming, distributed systems, or blockchain development.
• Strong proficiency in Rust, Go, C++, or another suitable systems programming language.
• Understanding of cryptographic primitives, peer-to-peer networking, and distributed consensus concepts.
• Familiarity with blockchain data structures, transaction validation, and state management.
• Experience with automated testing, profiling, debugging, and version control.
• Strong analytical thinking and technical documentation skills.
• Professional proficiency in English.
