Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Algorithmic Trading Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain automated trading systems for foreign exchange (FX) and other electronic financial markets. The successful candidate will combine strong software engineering capabilities with an understanding of market microstructure, execution strategies, and quantitative trading principles to deliver reliable, efficient, and scalable trading infrastructure.

Based in Estonia, this opportunity is suited to a technically skilled professional who can translate trading strategies into robust production systems, improve execution performance, and collaborate with quantitative researchers, traders, and infrastructure engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain algorithmic trading applications for electronic FX and multi-asset markets.

  • Implement automated order-routing, execution, pricing, and trade-management components.

  • Develop low-latency software solutions that support efficient order processing and market connectivity.

  • Integrate trading platforms with liquidity providers, broker APIs, exchange gateways, and market-data feeds.

  • Build and maintain backtesting frameworks to evaluate trading strategies under realistic market conditions.

  • Monitor live trading systems, investigate execution anomalies, and resolve software or connectivity issues.

  • Optimize system performance, reliability, and scalability through profiling, testing, and code improvements.

  • Collaborate with quantitative analysts and traders to convert strategy requirements into production-ready applications.

  • Implement automated testing, logging, monitoring, and risk-control mechanisms across trading infrastructure.

  • Maintain technical documentation and follow established software development, security, and deployment standards.

Candidate Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Demonstrable experience developing production software, preferably for algorithmic trading or electronic financial markets.

  • Strong programming skills in C++, Java, Python, or another suitable language for performance-sensitive applications.

  • Understanding of financial market structure, order execution, bid–ask spreads, liquidity, and slippage.

  • Experience working with REST APIs, WebSockets, FIX protocol, or comparable financial connectivity technologies.

  • Knowledge of multithreading, asynchronous programming, networking, and performance optimization.

  • Familiarity with Linux environments, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.

  • Strong analytical thinking, debugging skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Technical Environment

The role may involve C++, Python, Java, Linux, PostgreSQL, Redis, Docker, FIX connectivity, real-time market-data systems, automated testing frameworks, and cloud or on-premises deployment infrastructure.

What the Opportunity Offers

  • The opportunity to develop technology used in sophisticated electronic trading environments.

  • Exposure to quantitative research, execution algorithms, and financial-market infrastructure.

  • A technically challenging environment focused on system performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

  • Professional development within Estonia’s financial technology and software engineering ecosystem.

  • Competitive compensation based on experience, technical expertise, and the scope of responsibilities.

Ideal Candidate: A software engineer who combines excellent programming skills with a practical understanding of financial markets and enjoys building dependable, high-performance trading systems.
