Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to strengthen risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting across a technology-driven financial services environment in Estonia. The successful candidate will help the organisation understand its exposure to operational, financial, technological, and third-party risks while supporting informed decision-making and sustainable business growth.
This role combines quantitative analysis, risk assessment, internal control evaluation, and stakeholder collaboration. The successful applicant will work with business, finance, technology, compliance, and operational teams to identify emerging vulnerabilities, assess the effectiveness of existing controls, and develop practical recommendations that reduce risk without unnecessarily restricting business activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and document operational, financial, technology, and business continuity risks across relevant business functions.
- Develop and maintain risk registers, control assessments, risk indicators, and supporting documentation.
- Analyse incidents, loss events, operational exceptions, and emerging trends to identify underlying causes and recurring vulnerabilities.
- Monitor key risk indicators and prepare periodic reports highlighting material exposures, control weaknesses, and mitigation progress.
- Conduct risk assessments for new products, technology implementations, business partnerships, and significant operational changes.
- Evaluate existing controls and recommend improvements to reduce exposure and strengthen organisational resilience.
- Collaborate with information security, compliance, finance, and operations teams to ensure risks are assessed consistently.
- Support business continuity planning, incident reviews, and operational resilience initiatives.
- Assist with internal audits, regulatory reviews, and the preparation of evidence demonstrating effective risk management.
- Track remediation actions and verify that agreed control improvements are implemented within established deadlines.
- Present analytical findings and risk recommendations to relevant stakeholders in a clear, evidence-based manner.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related discipline.
- At least four years of relevant experience in risk analysis, operational risk, financial services, internal controls, or enterprise risk management.
- Understanding of risk assessment methodologies, control design, incident management, and risk reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative information.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with reporting or data visualisation tools.
- Experience maintaining risk registers, documenting controls, and coordinating remediation activities.
- Ability to communicate complex risk issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Professional fluency in English; Estonian language skills are advantageous.
- Relevant qualifications such as FRM, PRM, or ISO 31000 training are beneficial.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is analytical, methodical, and commercially aware. They can distinguish material risks from routine operational issues, challenge assumptions constructively, and develop proportionate recommendations supported by evidence.
Performance Expectations
Success will be measured by the quality of risk assessments, accuracy of reporting, timely escalation of significant exposures, effectiveness of remediation tracking, and improvements in the organisation’s overall risk-control environment.
Why This Opportunity?
This position offers the opportunity to contribute to stronger governance and operational resilience within Estonia’s technology and financial services sector. The successful candidate will work across multiple business functions, gain exposure to complex risk scenarios, and help build a proactive approach to risk management.
