Description
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Risk Analyst to support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of risks across financial and business operations. The successful candidate will analyse risk indicators, review operational processes, investigate emerging exposures, and help maintain effective controls that protect the organisation’s financial stability and operational integrity.
Working with finance, compliance, operations, and technology teams, you will contribute to risk assessments, control reviews, incident analysis, and the development of practical mitigation measures. This role is suited to a professional who combines analytical thinking with sound judgement and the ability to translate complex information into clear risk reports.
Experience in fintech, banking, payments, electronic money services, or other regulated financial environments is an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and assess operational, financial, credit, transaction, and technology-related risks within assigned business processes.
- Analyse risk indicators, incident records, transaction data, and operational reports to identify emerging patterns and potential control weaknesses.
- Maintain risk registers, document identified exposures, and track mitigation actions through to completion.
- Support periodic risk assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls.
- Prepare risk reports, management summaries, and key risk indicator dashboards for relevant stakeholders.
- Investigate operational incidents, document root causes, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with compliance and internal control teams to support risk-based reviews and regulatory obligations.
- Review business processes to identify control gaps, inconsistent procedures, and opportunities to reduce operational exposure.
- Support business continuity, incident response, and operational resilience assessments where required.
- Monitor remediation activities and escalate overdue or material risk issues through established channels.
- Maintain accurate documentation of risk assessments, control testing, incidents, and mitigation plans.
- Contribute to improvements in risk reporting methods, data quality, and internal risk management procedures.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent practical experience in risk management, finance, economics, accounting, business administration, statistics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in risk analysis, financial operations, internal controls, compliance support, or a similar function.
- Understanding of risk assessment methodologies, control frameworks, and risk reporting principles.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret quantitative and qualitative information.
- Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with reporting tools such as Power BI or comparable platforms.
- Ability to document findings clearly, assess evidence objectively, and propose practical mitigation measures.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and professional judgement.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.
- Professional proficiency in English; Estonian language skills are an advantage.
Preferred Experience
Experience with risk and control self-assessments, key risk indicators, incident management, business continuity, or operational risk frameworks is desirable. Familiarity with ISO 31000, COSO principles, or risk management practices in regulated financial services will be beneficial.
What We Offer
- Exposure to financial risk management and operational control practices.
- Opportunities to work with cross-functional teams on risk reduction and process improvement.
- Professional development in risk assessment, reporting, and control evaluation.
- A collaborative working environment focused on accountability and sound decision-making.
- Competitive remuneration based on relevant experience and qualifications.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is methodical, evidence-driven, and comfortable challenging assumptions when risk indicators suggest a potential problem. You should be able to distinguish material exposures from routine operational issues, communicate findings clearly, and follow through on mitigation actions while maintaining confidentiality and professional integrity.
