Description
Company Overview
The organisation operates in a business environment where understanding customer identity, ownership structures, business activities, and financial crime exposure is essential to responsible customer onboarding and ongoing relationship management. Its customer due diligence function helps ensure that customer information is verified appropriately and that potential risks are identified, documented, and escalated in accordance with established procedures.
The organisation values risk-based decision-making, accurate records, confidentiality, and consistent application of due diligence standards. It seeks a KYC and Customer Due Diligence Analyst who can assess customer documentation, investigate ownership structures, identify risk indicators, and maintain complete and reliable customer records.
The successful candidate will collaborate with onboarding, account management, AML, sanctions screening, and other compliance teams. The role requires a careful and structured approach to verification, a sound understanding of customer risk, and the ability to resolve documentation gaps while maintaining appropriate service standards.
Role Summary
The Remote KYC & Customer Due Diligence Analyst will conduct customer identity verification, assess customer profiles, review supporting documentation, and perform risk-based due diligence checks for individuals and business entities. The role includes onboarding reviews, periodic customer reviews, enhanced due diligence support, beneficial ownership verification, and the investigation of discrepancies identified during screening or documentation checks.
The successful candidate will evaluate whether customer information is complete, credible, and consistent with the expected nature of the relationship. Where additional information is required, the analyst will coordinate follow-up requests through approved channels, document the outstanding requirements, and escalate complex or higher-risk cases to the appropriate compliance personnel.
The role also involves maintaining accurate customer records, meeting review deadlines, and contributing to improvements in due diligence workflows. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable reviewing complex documentation, and able to apply established risk criteria consistently without making unsupported assumptions about customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct customer identification and verification checks in accordance with established onboarding procedures and applicable customer due diligence requirements.
- Review identity documents, company registration records, business profiles, ownership information, and other approved supporting evidence.
- Assess the completeness, consistency, and validity of customer documentation, identifying missing information, discrepancies, expired documents, or unexplained inconsistencies.

- Conduct or support enhanced due diligence reviews for customers requiring additional scrutiny under the organisation’s risk-based framework.
- Review politically exposed person screening results, sanctions alerts, adverse media findings, and other relevant screening information in accordance with approved procedures.
- Distinguish potential screening matches from confirmed matches by evaluating available identifying information and documenting the basis for the assessment.
- Escalate unresolved screening matches, material inconsistencies, complex ownership structures, or other significant risk indicators to authorised compliance personnel.
- Request additional information or documentation through approved customer communication channels when existing records do not meet due diligence requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of verification checks, documentation reviewed, risk assessments, outstanding information, and final case outcomes.
- Conduct periodic and event-driven customer reviews to determine whether existing records remain accurate and whether customer risk ratings require reassessment.
- Review changes in ownership, management, business activities, geographic exposure, or expected account use that may affect the customer risk profile.
- Work with AML analysts to clarify customer information relevant to transaction monitoring alerts or broader financial crime investigations.
- Coordinate with onboarding, customer operations, and account management teams to resolve documentation issues without bypassing required compliance controls.
- Monitor assigned case queues and prioritise reviews according to risk level, review deadlines, escalation requirements, and established service standards.
- Identify recurring documentation gaps, verification delays, or process weaknesses and recommend practical improvements to due diligence procedures.
- Support internal quality assurance reviews by ensuring that customer files contain appropriate evidence, documented reasoning, and required approvals.
- Assist with preparing information for compliance audits, internal reviews, or authorised regulatory requests.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with data protection requirements when processing identity documents, beneficial ownership records, and other sensitive personal or corporate information.
- Ensure that customer information is stored and shared only through approved systems with appropriate access controls.
- Contribute to updates of KYC checklists, customer risk assessment templates, onboarding guidance, and internal procedural documentation.
