Build the Intelligence Layer That Protects Digital Finance
We are seeking a Principal Fraud Intelligence Engineer to develop advanced capabilities for detecting, analysing, and preventing fraud across digital financial products.
This is a highly technical position combining software engineering, behavioural analytics, machine learning, and financial-risk intelligence. You will work with large volumes of transactional and behavioural data to build systems capable of identifying sophisticated patterns while minimising unnecessary disruption to legitimate customers.
What You Will Own
- Design and develop real-time fraud-detection services and decisioning infrastructure.
- Build behavioural and transactional risk signals for digital financial products.
- Develop scalable APIs and event-driven services supporting fraud decisions.
- Work with data scientists to productionise statistical and machine-learning models.
- Develop mechanisms for anomaly detection, risk scoring, and automated decisioning.
- Analyse emerging fraud patterns and translate findings into technical controls.
- Optimise detection systems to improve precision while reducing false positives.
- Establish monitoring for model performance, system health, and fraud trends.
- Design reliable data pipelines supporting fraud intelligence and investigation.
- Collaborate with security, compliance, product, data, and engineering teams.
- Lead technical investigations into complex fraud incidents.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to the long-term fraud technology architecture.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, fraud technology, risk engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Java, Kotlin, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience designing distributed, event-driven, high-throughput systems.
- Strong SQL and experience working with large transactional datasets.
- Knowledge of machine-learning concepts, anomaly detection, and behavioural analytics.
- Experience with Kafka or comparable streaming technologies.
- Strong cloud and containerisation experience.
- Background in payments, banking, fintech, fraud prevention, or cybersecurity is highly valuable.
