A high-growth fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Platform Engineer to shape the engineering platform supporting critical financial products, internal services, and high-volume digital transactions.

This is a senior technical leadership role for an engineer who can operate across platform architecture, developer experience, cloud infrastructure, reliability, and distributed systems. You will help create the technical foundations that allow product engineering teams to deliver financial services safely and efficiently at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the architecture of the organisation’s core engineering platform.
• Build scalable internal services, infrastructure components, and developer tooling.
• Establish standards for service reliability, deployment, observability, and operational readiness.
• Design platform capabilities supporting microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, and financial workloads.
• Improve developer productivity through automation, self-service infrastructure, and reusable engineering components.
• Lead cloud infrastructure optimisation and capacity-planning initiatives.
• Establish robust CI/CD practices and deployment strategies.
• Partner with security teams to implement secure-by-design infrastructure and access controls.
• Investigate complex platform issues and drive permanent architectural improvements.
• Develop resilience, disaster-recovery, and operational-continuity capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership to senior engineers and influence architecture decisions across product teams.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and determine where they can provide measurable engineering value.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of experience in platform engineering, software engineering, SRE, DevOps, or cloud architecture.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems and cloud-native architecture.
• Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, networking, Linux, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Strong understanding of observability, reliability engineering, and production operations.
• Experience working with high-availability or transaction-intensive systems.
• Strong architectural judgement and excellent technical communication.

Technical Environment

Cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, Terraform, microservices, event streaming, distributed databases, CI/CD, observability platforms, automated testing, and infrastructure security.
