A technology-led fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Platform Engineer to take technical ownership of the platforms supporting payments, financial APIs, customer services, transaction processing, and internal financial systems.

This is a senior engineering role focused on platform architecture, scalability, reliability, developer productivity, and financial-grade engineering practices.

The Role

You will establish the engineering foundations that allow multiple fintech products and development teams to build, deploy, and operate services efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and evolve highly scalable internal fintech platforms.
• Establish reusable services, APIs, libraries, and engineering standards.
• Lead platform architecture across cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Improve developer experience through automation, CI/CD, tooling, and self-service infrastructure.
• Develop resilient approaches to messaging, event processing, data access, and service communication.
• Strengthen observability, incident management, capacity planning, and platform reliability.
• Work with security teams to embed identity, access management, encryption, and security controls.
• Collaborate with product engineering teams to understand and solve platform requirements.
• Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical guidance on complex engineering decisions.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to long-term technology strategy.

Candidate Profile

You should have extensive experience in backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed-systems engineering.

Strong knowledge of Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, PostgreSQL, Kafka, REST/gRPC, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and observability would be valuable.

Experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial APIs, or other high-volume transactional environments is advantageous.
