An innovative fintech organisation in Estonia is seeking a Principal Fintech Data Engineering Specialist to develop high-performance data infrastructure supporting financial products, analytics, risk management, reporting, and intelligent automation.

You will operate at the intersection of software engineering and data architecture, designing reliable data pipelines capable of processing complex financial information while maintaining high standards of accuracy, lineage, security, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and lead development of scalable data pipelines for high-volume financial datasets.
• Build reliable ingestion and transformation frameworks for transactional, customer, payment, and operational data.
• Develop real-time and batch data-processing architectures.
• Establish high standards for data quality, validation, observability, and lineage.
• Work closely with data scientists, analysts, product teams, and software engineers.
• Optimise data infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Develop reusable data services and engineering frameworks for multiple fintech products.
• Implement automated monitoring for pipeline failures, data anomalies, and processing delays.
• Support analytical and machine-learning workloads through well-structured data platforms.
• Design secure data-access patterns and contribute to privacy and information-security requirements.
• Lead technical reviews and mentor senior and mid-level data engineers.
• Evaluate new technologies that can improve the organisation’s data-processing capabilities.

Candidate Profile

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering, distributed systems, software engineering, or data-platform development.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and a modern programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go.
• Strong experience with cloud data platforms, data warehouses, streaming systems, and orchestration frameworks.
• Solid understanding of distributed computing and event-driven architectures.
• Experience working with large-scale financial or transactional datasets is highly valuable.
• Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, security, and governance principles.
• Excellent technical leadership and architectural communication skills.
