Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Reconciliation Specialist to support the accuracy, transparency, and operational integrity of digital financial transactions. This position is suited to a finance operations professional who understands payment processing, transaction settlement, and the importance of maintaining reliable financial records across multiple payment channels.

The successful candidate will work across payment operations, finance, customer support, and technical teams to investigate discrepancies, resolve settlement issues, and strengthen reconciliation procedures within a modern fintech environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile daily payment transactions across bank transfers, card payments, digital wallets, and third-party payment processors.
• Investigate unmatched transactions, duplicate entries, settlement delays, failed payments, and discrepancies between internal records and external statements.
• Monitor payment settlement reports and ensure that outstanding reconciliation items are investigated and resolved within established timelines.
• Maintain accurate records of transaction adjustments, refunds, reversals, chargebacks, and settlement differences.
• Collaborate with payment operations and finance teams to identify recurring discrepancies and recommend practical process improvements.
• Prepare reconciliation reports, exception summaries, and operational performance updates for relevant stakeholders.
• Assist with month-end closing activities by verifying payment balances and supporting the preparation of accurate financial records.
• Contribute to the documentation and improvement of standard operating procedures for payment reconciliation and transaction verification.

Candidate Profile

• A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, Banking, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Experience in payment operations, financial reconciliation, transaction processing, or banking operations.
• Strong numerical reasoning, analytical skills, and exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficiency in spreadsheets and financial reporting tools; experience with SQL, payment platforms, or reconciliation software is an advantage.
• Ability to investigate complex transaction issues, maintain accurate documentation, and manage competing deadlines.
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with European payment systems, SEPA transfers, card settlement processes, or digital banking operations is beneficial.
