Role Overview

A growing international fintech operation is seeking a Payment Operations Analyst to support the smooth execution, monitoring, reconciliation, and continuous improvement of digital payment processes.

This is a specialist, non-managerial position for someone who is comfortable working with transaction data, payment systems, operational investigations, and technology-driven financial workflows.

The successful candidate will help ensure that payment transactions move accurately through complex systems while exceptions and discrepancies are identified and resolved efficiently.

Your Responsibilities

• Monitor daily payment activity across digital financial platforms.
• Review failed, rejected, delayed, reversed, and pending transactions.
• Investigate payment exceptions and determine appropriate operational actions.
• Perform transaction reconciliation between internal systems and external providers.
• Analyse payment discrepancies and identify their underlying causes.
• Liaise with payment providers, banks, technology teams, and internal operations specialists.
• Support payment settlement and reconciliation processes.
• Monitor payment-processing performance and recurring operational issues.
• Maintain accurate records of payment investigations and resolutions.
• Prepare operational reports covering transaction volumes, exceptions, and processing performance.
• Participate in testing new payment functionality and system releases.
• Review payment workflows and identify opportunities for automation.
• Support improvements to operational controls and payment procedures.
• Help maintain documentation covering payment processes and exception management.
• Escalate material technical or operational issues through established procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in payments, banking operations, fintech, financial services, or a related environment.
• Strong understanding of payment processing and transaction lifecycles.
• Experience with reconciliation and transaction-level investigation.
• Familiarity with payment gateways, banking APIs, wallets, or payment service providers.
• Strong Excel and analytical capabilities.
• SQL knowledge is an advantage.
• Comfortable working with financial systems and operational dashboards.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and investigative skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and operational teams.
• Excellent English.

Ideal Background

Experience with card payments, SEPA-related processes, international transfers, payment orchestration, merchant payments, digital wallets, or cross-border financial transactions would be particularly relevant.
