A technology-driven fintech environment in Estonia is seeking a Lead Embedded Finance Engineer to design and develop financial capabilities that can be integrated directly into business platforms, applications, and digital ecosystems.

This role combines software engineering, payments, financial APIs, distributed systems, and fintech infrastructure, with significant ownership over technical direction.

The Role

You will lead engineering initiatives covering embedded payments, account services, financial APIs, transaction workflows, and integrations with external financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable embedded-finance services and APIs.
• Build reliable transaction-processing and payment workflows.
• Develop integrations with banks, payment providers, and financial infrastructure platforms.
• Establish engineering patterns for secure financial data exchange.
• Lead technical design across microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Improve transaction reliability, observability, performance, and operational resilience.
• Collaborate with product managers to translate financial use cases into technical solutions.
• Work with security and compliance teams to incorporate appropriate controls into platform design.
• Review architectural decisions and provide technical leadership to engineering teams.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and development practices.

What You Bring

You should have strong experience in backend engineering, platform engineering, payments, fintech infrastructure, or financial APIs.

Excellent knowledge of Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, Node.js, REST/GraphQL APIs, event-driven architecture, SQL, cloud platforms, and distributed systems would be valuable.

Experience with embedded finance, payment orchestration, banking-as-a-service, or open banking is particularly relevant.
