A growing financial technology environment is seeking a Lead Digital Payments Platform Engineer to develop sophisticated payment infrastructure supporting secure, reliable, and scalable domestic and international transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering design of payment orchestration, transaction routing, settlement, reconciliation, and payment-status management systems.
• Develop resilient APIs and services connecting merchants, financial institutions, payment processors, wallets, and banking platforms.
• Design idempotent transaction workflows that protect against duplicate payments, inconsistent states, and processing failures.
• Engineer automated reconciliation and exception-management capabilities across multiple payment rails.
• Implement event-driven architectures for transaction lifecycle management and real-time payment notifications.
• Improve payment observability through distributed tracing, transaction monitoring, operational dashboards, and automated alerting.
• Lead performance optimization, capacity planning, reliability engineering, and technical incident investigations.
• Establish engineering standards for secure coding, automated testing, deployment pipelines, and production resilience.
• Mentor senior engineers and contribute to long-term payment-platform strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably within payments, banking, or fintech.
• Advanced experience with Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or comparable backend technologies.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, event-driven systems, databases, message brokers, and cloud infrastructure.
• Practical experience with payment gateways, payment orchestration, digital wallets, transaction processing, or financial integrations.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, reliability engineering, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects from architecture through production deployment.
