Description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Engineer to strengthen the security, resilience, and integrity of modern financial technology platforms. This position is suited to a security professional who understands the technical demands of digital banking, online payments, financial data processing, and cloud-based applications.

The successful candidate will work closely with software engineering, infrastructure, and compliance teams to identify vulnerabilities, implement effective security controls, and ensure that security considerations are incorporated throughout the software development lifecycle. The role requires a practical approach to security engineering, with an emphasis on risk reduction, secure system architecture, and continuous improvement.

Based in Estonia, this opportunity offers exposure to a technology-driven financial services environment where secure digital infrastructure and responsible data handling are essential to business operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls across applications, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and internal systems.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, security configuration reviews, and risk-based technical evaluations.
  • Integrate security requirements into application development, testing, deployment, and maintenance processes.
  • Monitor security events, investigate suspicious activities, and support incident response and remediation.
  • Apply secure authentication, authorisation, encryption, secrets management, and access-control practices.
  • Collaborate with developers to resolve security weaknesses in application code, dependencies, and system configurations.
  • Support compliance with applicable GDPR requirements, internal security policies, and relevant information security standards.
  • Maintain security documentation, technical procedures, risk registers, and remediation records.
  • Participate in threat modelling and security reviews for new financial products and platform integrations.

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent practical experience in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience in information security engineering, application security, infrastructure security, or a comparable technical role.
  • Knowledge of network security, operating systems, identity and access management, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience with security testing tools, SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, or vulnerability scanners.
  • Understanding of secure software development principles, OWASP guidance, and common application security vulnerabilities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary technical teams and manage competing security priorities.

Technical Environment

The role may involve cloud-native infrastructure, containerised applications, REST APIs, CI/CD pipelines, identity providers, security monitoring tools, and automated vulnerability assessment systems. Familiarity with scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell is an advantage.

What You Will Contribute

You will help establish security as an integral part of financial technology delivery rather than a final-stage checkpoint. Your work will support safer transactions, stronger protection of customer information, improved platform resilience, and greater confidence in the organisation’s digital services.

Ideal Candidate: A technically strong security professional who combines sound risk judgement with hands-on engineering ability and can translate security requirements into practical, measurable improvements.
