A high-growth financial technology organisation in Estonia is seeking an experienced FX Quantitative Research Lead to develop quantitative frameworks supporting foreign-exchange pricing, market analysis, execution quality, and risk intelligence.

This is a technically demanding role for a quantitative professional who can combine mathematical modelling with practical understanding of electronic FX markets. You will work across quantitative research, engineering, trading, treasury, and risk functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quantitative research initiatives focused on FX markets and electronic execution.
  • Develop statistical models for volatility, liquidity, spreads, market behaviour, and execution quality.
  • Analyse high-frequency and historical FX datasets to identify meaningful market patterns.
  • Build models supporting pricing, hedging, forecasting, and risk-management processes.
  • Develop scenario and stress-testing frameworks for currency-market conditions.
  • Evaluate model performance and continuously improve analytical methodologies.
  • Collaborate with engineers to productionise quantitative models and research tools.
  • Work with trading and treasury teams to translate research findings into practical applications.
  • Design analytical dashboards and reporting frameworks for quantitative market intelligence.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation covering model assumptions, methodologies, and validation.
  • Mentor quantitative analysts and contribute to the organisation’s broader research standards.

Candidate Profile

  • 6+ years of experience in quantitative finance, FX research, financial engineering, trading analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistics, probability, optimisation, and time-series analysis.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills; experience with additional quantitative languages is valuable.
  • Strong understanding of FX markets, derivatives, liquidity, and electronic trading.
  • Experience handling large financial datasets.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Economics, or Financial Engineering is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain quantitative concepts to business stakeholders.
