Position Overview

An international financial-technology environment in Estonia is seeking a Forex Backend Engineer to develop and maintain the server-side infrastructure supporting foreign-exchange trading platforms, account services, pricing systems, and transaction workflows.

This role is designed for a backend-focused software professional who can build reliable, scalable services capable of handling financial data and high-volume transactional workloads. You will work across trading technology, APIs, databases, integrations, and platform infrastructure while collaborating with frontend, product, QA, security, and financial-operations specialists.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services supporting forex trading platforms.
• Build robust RESTful APIs and service integrations for trading and financial applications.
• Develop services for account management, orders, positions, balances, transaction processing, and related workflows.
• Integrate backend systems with liquidity providers, market-data feeds, payment services, and third-party financial APIs.
• Process and validate real-time and historical foreign-exchange data.
• Implement reliable business logic for trade-related workflows and financial transactions.
• Optimise database queries, application performance, and backend architecture.
• Develop automated tests and participate in code reviews.
• Investigate production incidents and resolve backend performance or reliability issues.
• Apply authentication, authorisation, encryption, and secure coding practices.
• Collaborate with DevOps specialists on deployment, monitoring, logging, and infrastructure.
• Produce clear technical documentation for APIs, services, integrations, and operational processes.

Technical Profile

• Strong professional experience with backend software development.
• Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Java, C#, Python, Go, Kotlin, or Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, databases, and distributed systems.
• Practical experience with SQL and relational databases; PostgreSQL is advantageous.
• Familiarity with Redis, message queues, event-driven architecture, or similar technologies.
• Understanding of Docker and cloud-based development environments.
• Experience working with financial, trading, payments, or other transaction-intensive systems is highly valuable.
• Familiarity with market-data APIs, FIX connectivity, or trading infrastructure is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of software testing, version control, CI/CD, and production support.
