Position Purpose

A technology-led financial services organisation in Estonia is seeking a Financial Technology Security Engineer to strengthen the security of digital financial platforms, backend services, APIs, infrastructure, and sensitive financial data.

The role is technically focused and suited to a cybersecurity professional who understands that fintech systems require security controls to be embedded throughout software development, infrastructure, identity management, and operational processes.

You will work closely with software engineering, cloud infrastructure, product, compliance, and operations teams to identify vulnerabilities and improve the security posture of financial technology systems.

Responsibilities

• Assess the security of fintech applications, APIs, backend services, and infrastructure.
• Identify vulnerabilities and support remediation activities.
• Participate in secure software-development and application-security initiatives.
• Review authentication, authorisation, encryption, and access-control mechanisms.
• Support security testing across new and existing financial platforms.
• Monitor security events and assist with investigation of potential incidents.
• Contribute to threat modelling and security-risk assessments.
• Review cloud and containerised environments for security weaknesses.
• Help establish secure development standards and engineering controls.
• Collaborate with developers to resolve application-security findings.
• Support security monitoring, logging, vulnerability management, and incident-response processes.
• Assist with maintaining security documentation and technical controls.
• Contribute to data-protection and regulatory-security requirements applicable to financial technology.

Technical Background

• Professional experience in cybersecurity, application security, cloud security, DevSecOps, or security engineering.
• Understanding of web-application and API security.
• Knowledge of authentication, authorisation, encryption, identity management, and secure networking.
• Familiarity with OWASP security principles and common application vulnerabilities.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerised environments is advantageous.
• Knowledge of security monitoring and vulnerability-management tools.
• Understanding of secure software-development lifecycle practices.
• Familiarity with financial services, payments, fintech, banking technology, or other regulated environments is beneficial.
• Strong analytical and investigative abilities.
• High level of professional discretion when handling sensitive information.
