Role Summary

The Fintech Data Quality Specialist will help maintain the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability of data across financial technology platforms. The role focuses on identifying data quality issues, investigating discrepancies, maintaining validation procedures, and supporting improvements to data management practices.

Working alongside data engineering, product, finance, compliance, and operations teams, the specialist will help ensure that information used across financial systems is dependable and suitable for operational and analytical purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor data quality across financial applications, transaction platforms, customer databases, and internal reporting systems.

• Identify missing, duplicated, inconsistent, or inaccurate records and coordinate appropriate corrective actions.

• Develop and maintain data validation rules, quality checks, and monitoring procedures.

• Investigate discrepancies between financial systems and identify potential causes of data inconsistencies.

• Perform regular data reviews to verify the accuracy and completeness of transaction and customer information.

• Collaborate with data engineers and application teams to resolve data quality issues at their source.

• Support the standardisation of data definitions, naming conventions, reference data, and documentation.

• Maintain records of identified data issues, corrective actions, and recurring quality trends.

• Assist with data migration, system integration, and platform upgrade activities by validating information before and after implementation.

• Prepare data quality reports and communicate findings to relevant business and technical stakeholders.

• Contribute to improvements in data governance, information management, and internal control procedures.

• Ensure data handling activities follow applicable privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Technology, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.

• Previous experience in data quality, data operations, data analysis, or financial technology environments.

• Understanding of relational databases, structured data, and data validation techniques.

• Practical knowledge of SQL for data investigation and quality checks.

• Experience using Excel or comparable tools for data review, reconciliation, and reporting.

• Familiarity with financial data, payment transactions, customer records, or banking information.

• Understanding of data governance, data integrity, and information security principles.

• Ability to investigate complex discrepancies and communicate findings clearly.

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams in a technology-driven environment.
