Role Summary

The Fintech Data Governance Specialist will help maintain the policies, standards, and processes that ensure organizational data is accurate, consistent, traceable, and appropriately managed. The role will work with data, technology, compliance, product, and operations teams to define data responsibilities and improve governance controls.

The successful candidate will support data classification, metadata management, quality monitoring, documentation, and issue resolution. This position is suited to a detail-oriented professional who can combine structured analysis with practical coordination across remote teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development and maintenance of data governance policies, standards, and procedures.

• Coordinate the identification of data owners, data stewards, and key business data domains.

• Maintain data dictionaries, business glossaries, metadata records, and data lineage documentation.

• Help define data quality rules for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and validity.

• Monitor data quality indicators and coordinate remediation of identified issues.

• Work with technical teams to clarify data definitions and improve consistency between systems.

• Support data classification and handling practices in line with internal policies and applicable requirements.

• Document governance decisions, control procedures, and data-related process changes.

• Assist with governance reviews and provide evidence of data management practices when required.

• Promote consistent data practices across product, finance, risk, compliance, and operational teams.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Business Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

• Experience in data governance, data quality, information management, business analysis, or a comparable function.

• Understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata, data ownership, and data quality principles.

• Familiarity with SQL, data catalogues, reporting tools, or data management platforms is beneficial.

• Ability to document data definitions and translate business requirements into clear governance standards.

• Strong communication and coordination skills.

• High attention to detail and a structured approach to resolving data issues.

• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and collaborate effectively in a remote setting.

• Experience in financial services, fintech, payments, or regulated environments is an advantage.
