Job Overview

We are seeking a Fintech API Integration Engineer to develop and maintain integrations between financial technology platforms, banking services, payment providers, and external business applications. The role focuses on reliable data exchange, secure API connectivity, transaction workflows, and the technical interoperability of digital financial products.

The successful candidate will work closely with software engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver stable integrations that support payment processing, account information services, transaction reporting, and other financial technology capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain API integrations connecting fintech applications with banking systems, payment gateways, and third-party service providers.
• Implement RESTful APIs and support webhook-based communication, authentication, and data exchange.
• Integrate payment initiation, transaction status updates, account information, and reconciliation workflows where applicable.
• Investigate integration failures, API response errors, latency issues, and inconsistencies in exchanged data.
• Apply secure integration practices, including token management, access controls, encryption, and appropriate handling of sensitive information.
• Develop automated tests to validate API functionality, reliability, and error-handling behaviour.
• Collaborate with internal engineers and external technical partners during integration planning, testing, and deployment.
• Maintain API documentation, integration specifications, troubleshooting guides, and technical records.
• Monitor integration performance and contribute to improvements in system availability and processing efficiency.
• Support production incidents, root-cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective measures.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least three years of experience in software engineering, API development, or systems integration.
• Proficiency in a language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#.
• Practical experience with REST APIs, JSON, HTTP protocols, authentication mechanisms, and webhook integrations.
• Familiarity with SQL databases, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.
• Understanding of API security, logging, error handling, and production troubleshooting.
• Experience integrating payment platforms, banking APIs, or financial applications is an advantage.
• Familiarity with open banking concepts and PSD2-related integration requirements is beneficial.
• Strong technical documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
