Role Summary

The Financial API Integration Engineer will design, develop, and maintain API integrations connecting financial applications, payment platforms, banking systems, and external service providers.

The position requires strong backend development capabilities and an understanding of how financial data moves between interconnected technology platforms. The successful candidate will build reliable integration services, implement secure communication mechanisms, and resolve technical issues affecting financial data exchange.

Working closely with product managers, software engineers, and financial operations specialists, the engineer will contribute to the development of scalable integration infrastructure that supports digital banking, payments, and other fintech services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain APIs connecting internal financial applications with external banking and payment platforms.

• Build integration services supporting transaction processing, account information retrieval, payment initiation, and financial reporting.

• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms for financial API communications.

• Develop data transformation and validation processes to maintain accuracy across connected financial systems.

• Integrate third-party financial services using REST APIs and other supported communication protocols.

• Investigate API failures, connectivity problems, data inconsistencies, and transaction processing exceptions.

• Implement error handling, logging, retry mechanisms, and monitoring capabilities for integration services.

• Collaborate with backend engineering teams to establish reusable integration components and development standards.

• Support the implementation of asynchronous processing and event-driven integration workflows.

• Develop automated tests to validate API functionality, data accuracy, and integration reliability.

• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to integration architecture improvements.

• Maintain technical documentation covering API endpoints, authentication requirements, integration procedures, and system dependencies.

• Support deployment activities and monitor the performance of integration services in production environments.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• At least three years of professional experience in API development, backend engineering, or systems integration.

• Strong programming knowledge of Python, Java, Kotlin, C#, or Node.js.

• Practical experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs.

• Good understanding of JSON, HTTP protocols, OAuth 2.0, and API authentication.

• Experience working with relational databases and SQL.

• Familiarity with payment processing systems, banking APIs, or digital financial platforms.

• Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed application environments.

• Experience with automated testing, Git, and CI/CD workflows.

• Knowledge of cloud platforms and containerization is advantageous.

• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.
