We are seeking an experienced Fintech API Engineer to design, develop, and optimise the API infrastructure connecting modern financial products with banks, payment providers, financial platforms, and technology partners across Europe.

This is a hands-on engineering position for a professional who enjoys solving complex integration challenges and building secure, reliable financial technology infrastructure.

The Role

You will contribute to the development of API services that support financial transactions, account services, payment workflows, customer data, and connections with external financial institutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable REST and event-driven APIs.
• Build integrations with banking platforms, payment processors, identity providers, and financial-service partners.
• Develop reliable transaction and data-exchange workflows.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, encryption, rate limiting, and other API security controls.
• Design robust handling for failed transactions, retries, asynchronous events, and reconciliation.
• Develop automated integration and API tests.
• Monitor API performance, availability, latency, and error rates.
• Investigate production incidents and implement permanent technical improvements.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, security, and compliance specialists.
• Produce clear technical documentation for APIs and financial integrations.
• Contribute to architectural decisions around microservices, event-driven systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Improve developer experience through reusable services, tooling, and well-designed interfaces.

Technical Profile

Experience with Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, TypeScript, or comparable technologies is relevant.

You should be comfortable with:

• REST and JSON
• OAuth2/OpenID Connect
• Webhooks and event-driven architecture
• SQL and relational databases
• Message queues
• Docker and Kubernetes
• Cloud platforms
• Git and CI/CD
• API monitoring and observability

Experience with Open Banking, SEPA, payment APIs, digital wallets, card processing, or financial data platforms would be particularly valuable.
