Description

About the Company

We are an international financial services business providing secure payment and financial solutions to customers and corporate partners. Operating in a complex regulatory environment, we maintain robust controls designed to prevent prohibited transactions, manage sanctions exposure, and identify customers or counterparties presenting elevated financial crime risks.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Financial Crime Analyst specialising in sanctions screening, watchlist management, and customer risk assessment. The successful candidate will review screening alerts, investigate potential matches, assess relevant risk information, and support compliance decisions in line with applicable sanctions regimes and internal policies.

This role is ideal for a compliance professional with strong research skills, attention to detail, and an interest in sanctions compliance and international financial crime prevention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review sanctions, politically exposed person (PEP), and adverse media screening alerts involving customers, beneficial owners, directors, and counterparties.
  • Investigate potential matches by comparing identifying information, corporate relationships, geographical exposure, and other relevant data.
  • Distinguish genuine matches from false positives using documented procedures and established escalation criteria.
  • Assess customer and transaction exposure to applicable EU, UN, and other relevant sanctions regimes.
  • Support the review of high-risk customers, complex ownership structures, and potentially restricted business relationships.
  • Investigate adverse media findings relating to financial crime, corruption, fraud, organised crime, and other relevant misconduct.
  • Escalate confirmed or unresolved potential matches to authorised compliance decision-makers.
  • Support the implementation of sanctions-related controls across customer onboarding, periodic reviews, and payment processing.
  • Maintain complete screening records, decision rationales, and supporting evidence for audit purposes.
  • Assist with periodic testing of screening systems and the review of alert quality.
  • Monitor regulatory updates, sanctions amendments, and changes to relevant watchlists.
  • Collaborate with legal, AML, payments, onboarding, and risk teams to resolve complex screening cases.
  • Contribute to improvements in screening procedures, escalation workflows, and compliance training.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, International Relations, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in sanctions screening, AML compliance, KYC, or financial crime prevention.
  • Understanding of sanctions compliance principles and risk-based screening practices.
  • Familiarity with PEP screening, adverse media research, and entity resolution.
  • Experience using sanctions screening platforms, compliance databases, or customer due diligence systems.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory information and document decisions clearly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; Estonian language skills are an advantage.
  • Experience in international banking, payment services, or cross-border financial operations is desirable.

What We Offer

  • Competitive remuneration and employment benefits.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Professional development in sanctions compliance and international financial regulation.
  • Access to specialist compliance training and relevant certifications.
  • Exposure to international payment flows and complex screening scenarios.
  • A collaborative environment with experienced legal, compliance, and risk professionals.
  • Career progression opportunities in sanctions advisory, financial crime compliance, and regulatory risk.

Applicants should submit an updated CV and a cover letter highlighting their experience in sanctions screening, compliance investigations, or customer risk assessment.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to discuss their qualifications and relevant experience.
