Position Overview

A rapidly evolving fintech environment is seeking a Payment Systems Engineer to build and maintain reliable technology supporting digital payment processing and financial transactions. The successful candidate will contribute to backend services, payment integrations, transaction workflows, APIs, and highly available financial infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain payment-processing services and backend applications.
• Build secure and scalable APIs connecting internal systems with external financial-service providers.
• Develop transaction-processing workflows supporting authorization, settlement, reconciliation, and payment status management.
• Implement automated testing and quality controls for financial applications.
• Investigate transaction failures, system defects, and production incidents.
• Improve system performance, resilience, observability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with product managers, architects, DevOps engineers, security specialists, and payment operations.
• Integrate external payment services and financial APIs.
• Implement appropriate controls for transaction integrity and data protection.
• Participate in architecture reviews and technical design sessions.
• Contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes.
• Maintain technical documentation and operational runbooks.
• Evaluate emerging payment technologies and recommend suitable technical improvements.

Candidate Profile

• Strong backend engineering and systems-design capabilities.
• Excellent understanding of APIs and distributed systems.
• Strong focus on reliability, security, performance, and code quality.
• Comfortable working with complex transactional workflows.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving abilities.
• Able to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of professional software-engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, C#, or a comparable backend language.
• Experience with REST APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, automated testing, and version control.
• Previous experience with payments, banking technology, or fintech systems is highly advantageous.
